Hortifoska autumn fertilizer for lawns is a granulated phosphorus-potassium fertilizer, intended for autumn fertilization of lawns. It is also great for fertilizing decorative grasses, e.g. Miscanthus, propagates, fescue, pampas grasses and other grasses with high nutritional requirements. The fertilizer is primarily used to prepare plants for difficult winter conditions. It is worth starting using autumn fertilizers in the summer (even from July instead of nitrogen fertilizers).
Hortifoska autumn fertilizer for lawns is packed in a very convenient to use packaging, equipped with a string, enabling repeated closure. The packaging made of foil prevents the penetration of moisture into the packaging, so that the fertilizer contained in it does not clump. The offer includes 1 kg, 3 kg and 25 kg packaging.
Potassium regulates water uptake and evaporation processes in plants, making plants more resistant to water scarcity in winter. Phosphorus stimulates plants to produce a healthy and well-developed root system, which translates into better resistance to adverse environmental factors. In addition, phosphorus and potassium strengthen the grass’s resistance to disease. Properly nourished grasses have a better condition in spring, which means that after the snow subsides, the risk of developing fungal disease – snow mold – is reduced.
Most importantly – Hortifoska autumn fertilizer for lawns does not contain nitrogen, so it does not stimulate plants to intensively grow and create young shoots, sensitive to low temperatures. A balanced composition helps plants enter winter dormancy, and also increases winter hardiness and frost resistance of plants.
The fertilizer can be used from mid-July in order to better prepare plants for winter dormancy. However, the best time to start fertilizing with autumn fertilizer is August. Then the plants will manage to optimally use the supplied nutrients before the onset of winter. In recent years, changes in our climate could be observed, consisting in a significant extension of the summer-autumn period, which translates into the extension of the vegetation period of plants. Therefore, fertilizing with autumn fertilizer can be repeated after 2 months. You just have to remember not to delay fertilization for frosts, because the plants cannot absorb nutrients from the frozen ground. If necessary, we can also use autumn fertilizer for conifers in spring, but it is worth supplementing it with nitrogen fertilizer.
FERTILIZER DOSES
In the recommended period, apply 20 g (half a handful) * of fertilizer for every 1 m² of lawn. Spread the fertilizer evenly over the lawn surface, and after watering generously with water. Fertilizer in contact with moist soil will gradually dissolve.
