Autumn phosphorus-potassium fertilizer prepares lawns and decorative grasses for winter is granulated phosphorus-potassium fertilizer, intended for autumn lawn fertilization. It is also excellent for fertilizing decorative grasses, e.g. Miscanthus, rosemary, fescue, and other grasses with high nutritional requirements. The fertilizer is primarily used to prepare plants for difficult winter conditions.

Fertilizing with phosphorus-potassium fertilizers in autumn is of great importance for lawn development. High potassium content increases disease resistance, and also protects less resistant plant species from freezing. Potassium also regulates the processes of water uptake and evaporation in plants, making plants more resistant to water scarcity in winter. Phosphorus stimulates plants to produce a healthy and well-developed root system, which translates into better resistance to adverse environmental factors.

Most importantly – autumn fertilizer for lawns does not contain nitrogen, so it does not stimulate plants to intensively grow and create young shoots, sensitive to low temperatures. A balanced composition helps plants enter winter dormancy, and also increases winter hardiness and frost resistance of plants. Fertilizing lawns with nitrogen fertilizers should be completed in August to allow the lawn to enter winter rest.

Sometimes, tired of winter conditions, the lawn is very weakened, which exposes it to faster infections. In spring, snow mold may appear on the lawn. Nitrogen fertilization of the lawn in the autumn season favors it. The use of phosphorus-potassium fertilizer from early August will prevent the occurrence of fungal diseases. In the spring, after a good wintering, the lawn will quickly recover and be healthier. As soon as the snow falls and the grass catches the first rays of the sun, the vegetation will start in full swing. In contrast, the gray-brown winter lawn will quickly take on the color of intense, juicy green

Application method

The fertilizer can be used from mid-July in order to better preparation of plants for winter dormancy. However, the best time to start fertilizing with autumn fertilizer is August. Then the plants will manage to optimally use the supplied nutrients before the onset of winter. In recent years, changes in our climate could be observed, consisting in a significant extension of the summer-autumn period, which translates into the extension of the vegetation period of plants. Therefore, fertilizing with autumn fertilizer can be repeated after 2 months. You just have to remember not to delay fertilization for frosts, because the plants cannot absorb nutrients from the frozen ground. If necessary, we can also use autumn fertilizer for conifers in spring, but it is worth supplementing it with nitrogen fertilizer.

DOSAGES OF FERTILIZER

In recommended period, use 20g (half of handful)* of fertilizer per every 1 m² of lawn surface. Spread the fertilizer evenly over the lawn surface, and after watering generously with water. Fertilizer in contact with moist soil will gradually dissolve.
